Team Novo Nordisk had an amazing year, racing across the globe to inspire, educate and empower everyone affected by diabetes!
Check out some of our highlights from 2017!
January
Team Novo Nordisk kicked off 2017 with Challenge Mallorca, a series of four, one-day races on the Spanish island.
February
In February, Team Novo Nordisk rode aggressively at Dubai Tour, with neo-pro Quentin Valognes gaining valuable experience at the 2.HC stage race.
Team Novo Nordisk made its first appearance at Abu Dhabi Tour with three appearances in the breakaway and aggressive riding from the TNN squad.
March
In March, Team Novo Nordisk made our debut at the weeklong, World Tour stage race, Tirreno Adriatico, with appearances by Charles Planet, Romain Gioux and Joonas Henttala in the break.
At 2017 Milan-San Remo, Umberto Poli, the youngest rider in the peloton, starred in the main breakaway. The 20-year-old Italian neo-pro only received the news that he would be racing at the 293-kilometer Monument a few days before taking the start.
April
In April, Team Novo Nordisk competed in Tour of Croatia, with Martijn Verschoor earning a top 10 on stage 1 and Javier Megias finishing top 20 in the general classification.
May
In May, French rider Mehdi Benhamouda earned the Best Young Rider Jersey on stage 1 of Tour d’Azerbaijan.
At Tour of Estonia, solid teamwork helped Andrea Peron power to a top 10 finish overall.
June
In June, Team Novo Nordisk traveled to Canada for GP de Saguenay, where Fabio Calabria and Javier Megias earned top 10 finishes.
The world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team returned to Tour de Korea, with Andrea Peron and Mehdi Benhamouda earning solid results in the races final stages.
In June, Team Novo Nordisk Elite cyclist, Mandy Marquardt, sprinted to gold at the UCI Festival of Speed in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania.
July
In July, the world’s first all-diabetes pro cycling team made its second appearance at the prestigious Tour de Pologne, with breakaway appearances by Charles Planet and Joonas Henttala.
Team Novo Nordisk held two Talent ID Camps in Athens, Georgia, where 58 young riders from over 19 countries came to train with Team Novo Nordisk athletes and health care professionals and learn about sports and diabetes management.
August
In August, Stephen Clancy earned the Tour of Utah Fan Favorite Jersey, a jersey voted on by the general public, based on the rider with the best ideals and professionalism in cycling, community or a charity.
Following a standout performance on the final stage of the Colorado Classic, Fabio Calabria closed out the race with the Most Aggressive rider jersey.
In August, Mandy Marquardt, sprinted to another victory at the USA Cycling Track Nationals in Carson, California.
September
In September, Stephen Clancy and Mehdi Benhamouda led a young Team Novo Nordisk squad at the 6-day Tour of China I, with a breakaway appearance and a top 10, respectively, along the way
October
In October, Team Novo Nordisk returned to Japan Cup, where four TNN riders finished top 20 at the criterium.
In October, Team Novo Nordisk closed out the season in China at Tour of Hainan, where Mehdi Benhamouda and Umberto Poli snagged top 10 finishes.
November
In November, Team Novo Nordisk focused on the 2017 World Diabetes Day theme of Women and Diabetes, with inspirational messages from TNN’s female athletes.
December
In December, Team Novo Nordisk revealed its 2018 team roster and updated navy blue kit for the new season.
