Team Novo Nordisk head to Canada for first appearances at GP de Quebec and Montreal

Fresh from the success of David Lozano’s mountains jersey at the Maryland Classic on Sunday, Team Novo Nordisk are heading across the border to Canada for back to back WorldTour races at GP de Quebec and GP de Montreal.
The same team from Maryland lines up for their first appearances at Canada’s premier one day races with team captain Andrea Peron, Czech sprinter Matyas Kopecky and 21 year old Filippo Ridolfo leading the line.
“We’re all very excited to be racing in Canada again,” said General Manager Vassili Davidenko. “It will be our first time racing at these two WorldTour events, but we have fond memories of our last time in Canada and we know that these races will be extremely tough.”
“Our mission is to inspire, educate and empower people with diabetes to discover, like us, that with the right management and by living a healthy and active lifestyle diabetes doesn’t have to be an obstacle that stops people from pursuing their dreams. That’s what we’re aiming to demonstrate here in Quebec and Montreal, we have strong ties here with our principal partners Novo Nordisk and Argon 18 and together our aim is to make a difference.”
The racing begins on Friday with 200km and over 2,500 meters elevation around Quebec City before heading downriver to Montreal for one of the toughest one day events on the calendar with around 5,000 meters elevation in 221.5km or racing.
Veteran Peter Kusztor completes the line up alongside Manxman Sam Brand and kiwi Hamish Beadle.
“Of course it’s great for us to be back racing in Canada, it’s been a while,” said Peron. “And personally I’m looking forward to racing in Quebec and Montreal because I’ve never done these races and they are like bucket list events for me.”
“The parcours for both races are both difficult, like a northern classic with punchy, technical circuits. Montreal in particular looks brutal and I think that Quebec will be more suited to us and we’ll try our best to show the jersey, carry our message and go for as good a result as possible.”
