Heavy Rain makes for tough going at GP de Montreal

Team Novo Nordisk went deep into the wet den of suffering at GP de Montreal as the heavens opened and the punishing circuits took their toll on the worlds first all diabetes professional cycling team.

General Manager Vassili Davidenko:

“After a good day in Quebec on Friday we had higher hopes for today and we wanted to be in the breakaway again. But the rainy conditions made it very difficult at the beginning and the bunch was very nervous.”

“Hamish and Filippo both gave it a go right at the start, but it didn’t happen. In the end only one guy got clear before the peloton shut down the attacks. This is cycling and when the conditions are tough on these kind of difficult, hilly circuit this can happen.

“All in all we have had a positive experience in Canada and enjoyed some great activity with both Novo Nordisk and Argon 18. We still have some big races to come in this final part of the season and now we need to recover and move on to the next objective”

Andrea Peron:

“It was very hard today, that kind of drop in temperature and heavy rain always makes things a little nervous, but we struggled to reset after the first couple of laps.”

“Me, Filippo and Sam hung on in the bunch for as long as we could but with a few laps to go, the rain had stopped, but the pace has significantly increased and the climb up Mont Reale really started to bite. I really like these races and despite the tough conditions in Montreal, it’s been a great  experience.”
