European racing comes to a close for TNN at Tour de Vendée and Munsterland Giro
29 September 2023
Team Novo Nordisk wrap up their 2023 European racing season in France and Germany this weekend at the one-day events. Tour de Vendée and Sparkassen Munsterland Giro.
A strong team is set to line up led by captain Andrea Peron and the in form Czech Matyas Kopecky, fresh from a recent top five in the U23 road race at the European Championships last week.
“Tour de Vendée and the Sparkassen Munsterland Giro are the last races of our European race calendar,” said General Manager Vassili Davidenko. “It’s important that we finish this part of our season in good fashion before we go back to China, Japan and Turkey for our final goals.”
“The guys are ready to go in the Vendee on Sunday after a busy period of racing recently and some strong performances at the Maryland Classic and GP de Quebec and in China at Taihu Lake over the last few weeks. Our goal is to keep the momentum going and show ourselves in both the breakaways and the finals, it’s up to the boys to deliver on all the hard work they have put in.”
One of the standout performers for the 2023 season so far, Filippo Ridolfo leads the line of support alongside former Finnish champion Joonas Henttala who will be looking for a strong end to what’s been a fantastic career with Team Novo Nordisk in his final races before retirement.
“These are two difficult one day races to contend with,” said Peron. “Vendée can be won either from a small group or from a sprint depending on how the race situation is going into the circuits in La Roche-sur-Yon, whereas Sparkassen usually ends in a sprint finale. Either way we will have to be switched on for both races to try and get the best result possible.”
“I’ve had a good block of training since Canada, I’m feeling sharp and with Matyas clearly in good shape after his impressive result at the European Championships last week I hope that we can make the opportunities to roll the dice. Obviously at this late stage of the season everyone is looking to end each race on a high, so we know the competition will be strong, but we will give it our best shot.”
Frenchman Lucas Dauge completes the team alongside Dutchman Jan Dunnewind and Veronese Umberto Poli.
