Team Novo Nordisk Sets Sights on Tour of Istanbul with Fresh Talent
10 September 2024
The first all-diabetes professional cycling team, Team Novo Nordisk, is gearing up for the second edition of the Tour of Istanbul with a young and ambitious squad, featuring a blend of experience and fresh talent.
The roster includes riders from the pro team, Hamish Beadle, Umberto Poli, Gerd de Keijzer, and Quinten de Graeve, alongside development team riders Celestin Wattelle, Anton Muller, and Hamish Armitt, the most recent addition to the Devo team.
This combination of experience and emerging talent is central to the team’s strategy, providing young riders with opportunities to race alongside seasoned professionals and gain valuable experience in the competitive world of professional cycling.
Ahead of the race, Sports Manager Vassili Davidenko commented, “This is our second time participating in the Tour of Istanbul. Last year, only the development team competed, but this time, we’ve mixed the roster. The race offers a perfect platform for our young riders to showcase their skills while learning from our more experienced pros. With half the team coming from our development team, we’re excited to see how they perform on this race. It’s a great test for them, and we believe it’s the right environment for their development into professional athletes.”
With a mix of flat stages and challenging climbs, the Tour of Istanbul promises to test the team’s strength and cohesion. The young team is eager to make its mark and continue building toward the future.
