“All three of us gave our all at this race and rode completely for one another,” Glasspool said. “Without one of us riding all-out for the team, these results would not have been possible.”

Sunday’s 160-kilometer race closed out a hot, humid and challenging four-day race that saw Team Novo Nordisk’s Glasspool, Chris Williams and Scott Ambrose fully embody the term teammate. The final stage saw Ambrose make the race’s main breakaway but a puncture forced him back to the peloton. The three riders regrouped and refocused efforts on setting up Glasspool for the finish. In the final two kilometers, Glasspool bridged up to the three remaining breakaway riders. With the peloton bearing down and the finish line 500 meters away, Glasspool opened up his sprint. In the end, Timothy Guy (Attaque Team Gusto) took the win.

“I had to go early in the finish so that we didn’t get caught. With a chance for the podium so close, it is a little bittersweet but I am very happy with my career best result,” Glasspool said. “The work from the team over the past three stages has been very selfless and the results from the past two days has started to show our real potential.”
