Lozano fourth on Butterfly Valley circuits to wrap up South Aegean Tour
13 March 2022
Spanish climber David Lozano continued his excellent start to the season for Team Novo Nordisk, taking fourth place on the hilly circuits of the final stage at the South Aegean Tour wrapping up tenth overall and keeping the smiles fixed firmly on our faces.
David Lozano (ESP) :
“I felt pretty good both of days racing here at the South Aegean Tour and I think that my main problem was with myself. I was lacking in a bit of confidence in a big bunch on small, narrow roads and it was also difficult with the strong crosswinds, but I just needed that little nudge to push on and yesterday we rode well, and we all gained some confidence from that.”
“I didn’t know that today’s final would be as hard as it was and that’s probably a good thing! Fourth place is good and bad because it’s a good result, but also too close to the podium and I had the legs to be in the top three just not enough road. We all rode strongly over the last two days, and this is only my second race, so I’m happy with how this season has started.”
Head Sports Director, Massimo Podenzana (ITA):
“It’s great that we finished the race with a positive result today, the final climb ended up being a bit too hard for Andrea, so David took it up with around 400 meters to go and finished very strongly.”
“Fourth place is good, ok it’s just off the podium but we are trying to get back to basics this year and enjoy our racing instead of wilting under the pressure of getting results. We can see that it’s working, because we’ve already surpassed our results for the whole of 2021 in six weeks of racing.”
