Peron getting back to business with top ten on stage 3 in Taiwan
12 March 2024
There was a chance that today’s third stage of the Tour de Taiwan was a good day for the breakaway, repeated attempts by Team Novo Nordisk were thwarted early on before an eventual nine-rider move made the difference and held on to contest the stage win with Andrea Peron in tenth place from the chasing bunch.
Head sports director Massimo Podenzana:
“The breakaway went very late today, almost at the halfway point of the stage as the GC teams did not want to let anything go. We knew it could be a good day to be out front and had Nathan in the first move that went, but that one didn’t stick.”
“Eventually the group that made it found a good tailwind and with the shortened stage it made for favorable conditions for the leading group. Andrea sprinted well out of the chasing peloton and even after three days of racing he’s showing good signs of form.”
Andrea Peron:
“I’m feeling good considering the long lay off and the goal is to keep improving each day. With more racing it’s not only the form that starts to come back, but the rhythm too and I’m enjoying being back with boys competing and getting back into the placings is always nice.”
