Remnants of break foil peloton on final stage in Slovakia
17 September 2022
Two survivors of the days breakaway managed to hold off the chasing peloton on the closing circuits of Okolo Slovenska/Tour of Slovakia in Kosice with experienced Hungarian Peter Kusztor finishing up there again for Team Novo Nordisk alongside neo pro Filippo Ridolfo.
Peter Kusztor (HUN):
“It’s a shame that we couldn’t bring back those two guys because after yesterday’s positive result I wanted to see if we could improve on a top 20 in todays sprint. But it wasn’t to be and chapeau to the two guys from VolkerWessels because they did very well to stay clear.”
“We had a week of up and downs here, but the last two days have been really good and I think we can go into our final races now with a little bit of momentum and with some good team work and focus we can do well in France and then hopefully at Japan cup in October.”
Filippo Ridolfo (ITA):
“This is my first full season as a professional and I’m really starting to feel it now, I’ve never had such an intense period of difficult racing than the last couple of months and the fatigue is starting to kick in.”
“The experience I’ve gained is invaluable and learning from guys like Andrea, David and Peter is really important. Especially on the hard days. The stages here at Okolo Slovenska have been challenging to say the least with days two & three particularly difficult, but I think yesterday and today we rode with more assertion, finishing close together and it’s been a more positive way to wrap things up.”
