Strong Ride from Perracchione on Challenging Stage 4 in Hellas
05 April 2025
A tough and undulating fourth stage of the Tour of Hellas saw Alessandro Perracchione put in a determined performance on the final climb in a bid to shake up the young rider classification, eventually finishing in the main group after a spirited late attack.
Starting in Chalkida and finishing just outside Athens in Acharnes, the 185.9km stage was marked by shifting weather, sharp climbs, and aggressive racing from the gun. The team rode a smart and patient race, staying out of trouble in the opening phases while watching for opportunities as the terrain wore down the peloton.
Perracchione, riding his first Tour of Hellas, showed his class on the decisive final ascent, attacking out of the bunch with a select group and briefly opening a gap before being reeled in before the line.
“Today started with mixed sensations — I didn’t feel great on the first climb, but things improved as the stage went on. I launched an attack on the final climb in an effort to gain time in the young rider classification, but we were caught before the finish. Overall, I’m satisfied with the effort and the result, especially given the difficulty of the stage.”
