Team Novo Nordisk battles through tough finale in Tour of Hellas opener

02 April 2025

The opening stage of the Tour of Hellas saw Team Novo Nordisk put in a strong performance on the road from Patras to Agrinio, with Alessandro Perrachione finishing 15th in a chaotic sprint finish after a late crash disrupted the final kilometers.

The day began with an early breakaway setting the tempo, while the team stayed focused in the peloton, working to position Perrachione for the sprint. The squad rode with patience and control, maintaining a united front throughout the stage.

“The team was looking really strong today in support of Alessandro for the sprint,” said Sports Manager Daniel Holt. “The guys did a great job staying organized and keeping him in position. In the end, it was a great result against some of the best sprinters in the world, even if we didn’t get the clear run we were hoping for.”

A crash in the final kilometers threw the race into disarray, with some of the team’s riders caught up in the incident. Perrachione managed to stay upright and fought hard in the closing meters.

“Today my legs felt really good, and the team atmosphere was calm and united,” said Perrachione. “We were in a good position for the final, but then the crash happened, and unfortunately, some of my teammates went down. I made it through and tried to sprint, but there just wasn’t any space to break through.”
