Team Novo Nordisk carrying form into Tour of Turkey

25 April 2025

Team Novo Nordisk return to the Tour of Turkey this Sunday with high ambitions for the eight-day race after a successful period of European racing across the spring.

Recent white jersey winner at the Region Pays de La Loire Tour Matyas Kopecky will lead the line in the sprints alongside team captain Andrea Peron and the experienced Catalan climber David Lozano.

“We head into the Tour of Turkey on the back of a busy and successful period of racing,” said General Manager Vassili Davidenko. “It’s been a very solid spring block and we’re excited to be back competing and sharing our mission in Turkey.”

“The reception we receive is always fantastic, from the fans, our sponsor affiliates and the race organizers which makes it an important moment on our calendar each year. This years route is no less challenging than usual and we’ll be aiming to carry our current form into the race, Andrea and Matyas are both in good shape and we’re happy to have a strong, versatile line up ready to go!”

Italians Filippo Ridolfo and Alessandro Perracchione complete the team alongside French climber Lucas Dauge and British rouleur Nathan Smith.

The Tour of Turkey is always super challenging,” began Kopecky. “This years route is bookended with sprint stages that could be good for us, but there could be opportunities on one or two of the punchier stages depending how the race situation plays out. One thing is for sure, there are no easy days and it’s going to be tough.”

“I’m looking forward to getting back into the rhythm of a longer stage race, we did really well in the Loire Tour and we’ve had a packed spring period with a lot of one day races back to back. Hopefully that’s created a good base for us to take into Turkey and race consistently each day.”

Starting in Antalya with a short flat day made for the sprinters the race then moves southwest around the coast and onto hard undulating terrain with the Queen Stage coming on day four and a summit finish atop the steep Kiran climb in Akayaka. One more clear chance for the sprinters comes in the stage eight finale in Izmir.
