Tough Day for TNN at Tour de Tochigi
24 March 2018
Race: Tour de Tochigi, stage 1
Start/Finish: Oyama / Nikko, Japan
Distance: 103 kilometers
Umberto Poli:
“The tactic today was to try and get in the breakaway, and if that wasn’t possible, to try and stay in the front and try and get a result in the sprint. Unfortunately we didn’t get in the break. The breakaway was caught as we approached the last climb with the 20km to go, and I tried to stay with the first group. But by the last 10km, my legs were finished, so I arrived with the gruppetto. Now we’ll focus on recovery before tomorrow’s final stage.
This is my first time in Japan, and I think the quality of racing is very good.”
Team Novo Nordisk, the world’s first all-diabetes all pro cycling team, continues racing tomorrow at Tour de Tochigi, with the race’s final, 146.6k-km stage from Nasu to Moka.
