Windy day on the circuits in Adelie for Team Novo Nordisk
29 March 2024
The busy Easter racing period continued for Team Novo Nordisk today with another round of the Coupe de France at La Route Adelie de Vitre where late attacks made the difference on the closing circuits.
Head sports director Massimo Podenzana:
“It was a hard day and some guys got dropped quite early on with the wind and the splits and once we missed the move of around 25 guys within the last 60km we knew that the race had gone.”
“Matyas’ group chased valiantly, but on this type of course with the wind playing its part, it was always going it be hard to bridge across. We needed more numbers up there to make that happen and hopefully a few days of recovery and rest before the Loire Tour will do the guys good.”
Matyas Kopecky:
“I didn’t feel as sharp today as I did over the last three races and even though my legs were still pretty good I lacked that extra punch that can make the difference when you try to go with the attacks. I know I made a couple of positional errors which is disappointing because I’d really improved that so far this season.”
“It was a hard day out in the wind, those last circuits were really a battle and we couldn’t bring back the late attacks, but we’ve had a good run of results here in France and I’ve enjoyed packing in these mini one day classics. Now we have four days at Loire Tour coming up next week and it’s back to stage racing.”
