Strong Winds Make for Tough First Stage of the Tour of South Bohemia

The first stage of the Tour of South Bohemia started on a sunny and hot day in the small town of Trebon. The 136km route was hilly, with several challenging climbs. The riders of Team Novo Nordisk Development faced strong winds throughout the day, which made the race even more difficult.

Daniel Holt, Development Team General Manager:

“I warned the riders of the strong winds they would face all day long. I advised them to stay aware of it and adjust their position accordingly. I also suggested that they position themselves at the front of the peloton to save energy and avoid being caught in the wind. I wanted them to ride together as a team to stay motivated and draft off of each other.”

“This was Anton’s first race outside of the France, and he put in an amazing performance. He held his own against some of the best riders in the peloton and positioned himself well throughout the whole race. The other riders also learned a lot from the experience and are now focused on the upcoming stages.”

Team Novo Nordisk Development Puts in Solid Ride on Stage 2 of Tour of South Bohemia

The second stage of the Tour of South Bohemia started in the small town of České Velenice, just by the border with Austria. The 137-kilometer route featured strong crosswinds at the beginning and climbing in the second half, but Team Novo Nordisk Development put in a solid ride.

Daniel Holt, Development Team General Manager:

“Today was a day of crosswinds. I told the guys to fight for a good position in the peloton and save as much energy as possible for tomorrow’s Queen stage. I also told them to stay hydrated and, if they felt up to it, to finish in the final sprint.”

“Anton once again produced a good performance, finishing in the main group. He is strong and is gaining experience racing in European races. Overall, all the guys did great today, and for the next stages we’re aiming to help Anton sprint to the top 20.”

TNN Devo's tough day in the saddle at the Tour of South Bohemia

Team Novo Nordisk Development faced their toughest challenge yet on the third day of the Tour of South Bohemia, the Queen stage. The 133-kilometer route featured 2700 meters of climbing, including three laps of the infamous Javornik climb.

Daniel Holt, Development Team General Manager:

“I told the guys to stay in the main group for as long as possible, save their energy for the final climb, and be careful not to get caught in any splits in the peloton in the first half.”

“The riders did a good job. On the climbs, they worked together to stay in the groupetto. They all finished the stage safely and within the time limit. We are now looking forward to the final stage tomorrow and hopefully finishing it on a positive note.”

TNN Development Team Successfully Concludes Season with Tour of South Bohemia

The Team Novo Nordisk Development team concluded its season with a successful performance at the Tour of South Bohemia, a four-day stage race in the Czech Republic. The final stage was the longest one with a distance of 168km and a finish in the heart of the historical city of Jindrichuv Hradec.

Daniel Holt, Development Team General Manager:

“I advised the guys to stay in the main group over the climb. I knew that if they could make it through the climb in the peloton, they would be able to finish the race without any problems. I also told Anton (Muller) and Justin (McQuerry) to try for a breakaway if they felt good.”

“Our riders stayed together in the main group and helped each other over the climb. They all performed well, and even though Anton was caught in a crash, our team finished the race safely.

“It was a great end to the season. the guys did a great job, and I am proud of them and their performance.”

The Tour of South Bohemia was the final race of the season for the Team Novo Nordisk Development team. The team will now begin its off-season training, and it will return to racing in 2024.
