Team Novo Nordisk Notches Two Top 10s at Tour of Yancheng Coastal Wetlands

Yancheng, China — Two Team Novo Nordisk riders finished in the top 10 on Wednesday’s Tour of Yancheng Coastal Wetlands, one of the last races of the season. Martijn Verschoor (NED) sprinted to a 4^th place finish, with Quentin Valognes (FRA) close behind in 9^th.

The 151 kilometer one-day race began and ended in Yancheng in the eastern region of Jiangsu in China. Four riders formed a breakaway after 60 kilometers of racing and were caught with 10 km to go. Following several small crashes, a sprint to the finish ensued. Team Novo Nordisk raced together and were able to put Verschoor and Valognes in good position for the finish. Jakub Mareczko (Wilier – Southeast) took the win with Verschoor finishing 4^th and Valognes 9^th.

“The team worked well together all day to keep me in the front and Quentin stayed close by my side. I started the sprint in the wind and came from a little far behind. It was fast and my form was there, but I was a little too late and managed to finish fourth. We still have a few more sprints to go this year and I’m looking to podium,” said Verschoor.

Team Novo Nordisk continues racing at the Tour of Taihu Lake, a nine-day stage race beginning Saturday, November 5.
